Toward the realization of an ideal mobility society

After graduating from the Department of Geology at the University of Tokyo in 1974, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, and a Professor at the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Tokyo. Since 2012, he has been the Director and Professor at the Integrated Research System for Sustainability Science (IR3S), at the University of Tokyo.
He also served as a Vice-Rector and Senior Vice-Rector at United Nations University from 2008 to 2016, President of the International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences since April 2015, and President of the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) since July 2017. He holds a Ph.D. in agriculture and specializes in landscape ecology and sustainability science.

Dr. Mohri, a Nuclear Fusion Scientist was selected as the first Japanese Astronaut in 1985. In 1992 he participated in Japan/US SpaceLab-J (Japan) shuttle mission, in 2000 the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission(SRTM). In 2003 he conducted Deep Sea Experiments onboard the “Shinkai 6500” and in the same year observed the first total eclipse of the Sun in Antarctica. In 2007 he presented Earth Environment Science Lecture to the world from Antarctica. He hosted the first Asian, Association of Space Explorers congress (ASE) in 2003, and the Science Center World Summit (SCWS2017) in Tokyo.
Dr. Mohri has received the Prime Minister's Commendation, France Légion d'Honneur (Chevalier), Member of the Australian Order of Honor, NASA Honor Award, and Fellow of the Japan Society of Applied Physics award.

After graduating from the School of Human Sciences at Osaka University in 1976, he became a professor in the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Tezukayama University in 1997. He served as President of Tezukayama University from 2017 to 2023. He has led the research field of traffic psychology not only in Japan but also worldwide. His research covers a wide range of topics, including driver behavior and accident analysis, traffic education for children, and research on safety measures for communities and roads. In recent years, he has conducted a number of empirical studies on the behavior of elderly drivers and driver education. He currently serves as the president of the Japanese Association of Traffic Psychology (JATP), and has been a director of the International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences since April 2014. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Sciences, with a specialization in traffic psychology and industrial psychology.

After graduating from the Japan Coast Guard Academy in 1982 as the first female student to enroll, she became the first and youngest female captain of the patrol boat “Matsunami” at the age of 26. She has worked as an assistant professor at the Japan Coast Guard Academy and an associate professor at Osaka City University Graduate School, and has held her current position since April 2018. She has studied policy analysis, decision-making, and business administration, and is working to solve regional and social issues. She has also been involved in corporate management, and has given numerous training sessions and lectures on leadership and women's empowerment. She has been a member of the International Association of Traffic Safety since 2010. She has a master's degree in policy science. Her specialties are public management, decision-making, and social marketing.

After serving as the anchorperson for numerous programs on NHK and TV Tokyo, she has held executive positions at many companies, including Asahi Breweries, Nippon Broadcasting, and Sanyo Electric. In addition, she has served as a member of government advisory councils such as the Fiscal System Council and the Central Council for Education. Currently, she is working on global environmental and energy issues as well as regional revitalization as the chair of the NPO GAIA INITIATIVE, which she established in 2007. She is a full member of The Club of Rome and a visiting professor at Shigakkan University. She was awarded the Academia Prize in the Social Division in 2018.
